The Emergency Communications Response Vehicles (ECRV) were were strategically positioned across the country to ensure a response to disasters within 12 hours of deployment. ECRVs served multiple purposes beyond communication assets; they were instrumental in recruitment, public relations showcases, and fundraising initiatives.
This website is designed for participants of the ECRV program to share their stories and reflect on their experiences.
Big white truck with a big red cross
Quote from Mike Mitchell on 2025-06-07, 10:32 pmWhen I taught ECRV classes I always told the group that if you get a ticket driving a "big white truck with a big red cross" on it, you deserved the ticket.
I did deserve the speeding ticket I received on the Pennsylvania Turn Pike on the way home from a Presidential Inauguration we were assigned to.

Quote from Joseph Sheppard on 2025-06-16, 11:58 amWell if you got pulled over in the ECRV then you deserved the ticket 🙂 that was the rule. But most everyone got out of it in the end.
I was pulled over once in the 5th wheel truck, but that was for not having an inspection sticker, went to the court in the ECRV and they through out the ticket 🙂
So it works both ways I guess.
